CAMPUS NOTIFICATION SOLUTIONS FOR COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

WestThe Roam Secure Alert Network (RSAN™) is a proven communication solution used by leading local, state and federal government agencies during all-hazards incidents for more than eight years. Colleges and Universities began rapidly adopting RSAN in 2007 for instant, reliable emergency communication via text messaging on cell phones, PDAs, e-mail, desktop alerting and voice calls to landline and cell phones. RSAN is also integrated with outdoor and indoor speaker systems for a single interface to layered means of campus notification.  RSAN provides colleges and universities powerful, two-way communication capabilities to quickly send alerts campus-wide to: students, parents, faculty, public safety officials and alumni - even when disasters saturate communication networks.

Over 230 RSAN systems are deployed across the United States. RSAN is a product of Roam Secure, Inc. dba Cooper Notification Protected by U.S. patent 7,409,428.

RSAN On Your Campus

With RSAN you can:

  • Notify college or university officials
  • Send departmental alerts or geographically targeted alerts
  • Communicate with campus first responders and local emergency officials
  • Notify faculty and staff
  • Rapidly send messages to students and alumni
  • Reach people with disabilities
  • Communicate with parents during a crisis

Entire campus populations, or targeted areas, can be notified instantly via text and voice. RSAN is fully redundant and can send more than 18,000 messages per minute. When an emergency occurs, campus security officials can send pre-scripted or ad hoc emergency action messages using a web-based interface or from the field using a Blackberry or PDA to thousands of email addresses, cell phones (via text messaging), BlackBerry's and other wireless devices. RSAN also delivers a voice message using text to speech, pre-recorded messages or newly recorded messages to landline and cellular phones as well as indoor and outdoor speaker systems. RSAN has been recently integrated with third party social networking systems, such as Twitter and Facebook, to broaden distribution of emergency messages to your campus community.

Targeted, Two-Way Messaging

RSAN can be used to target populations both on and off cWestampus, including specific locations such as residences or to send messages to specific groups within the college or university. The RSAN system has two-way messaging capabilities, meaning that once a message is sent, recipients also have the capability to respond to a message by texting from a cell phone or email, providing vital and possibly life-saving feedback. All messages and responses are stored and presented via the AlertTracker, creating an easy to view summary and audit trail.

Rapid Enrollment

Colleges and Universities have highly mobile populations, where everyone carries a cell phone. Enrolling in RSAN is easy via the Internet or on the fly by sending a text message to the 411911 short code. Rapid Enrollment uses technology similar to many popular television shows where viewers vote via text message.

Roam Secure Information Exchange (RSIX)

RSIX enables emergency officials to expand their information sharing capabilities by linking their RSAN system with other RSAN systems at nearby colleges, cities and counties, across the state and other parts of the country. Automated feeds, such as weather, traffic, local and national news can also be tied into RSIX. In essence, every RSAN customer—through RSIX—possesses a local, state, regional, and national emergency-communication platform, thus allowing Administrators to manage emergencies on both the macro and micro levels.

The hub-and-spoke configuration of the RSIX along with its publish/subscribe architecture gives each RSAN Customer an unparalleled mass-notification capabilities in correlation with:

  • Public Information Feeds
  • RSAN Client Communications
  • Interoperability with other alerting technologies
