Marin County is located across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. As of 2000, the population was 247,289. Marin County is world-renowned for its stunning natural beauty, liberal politics and pockets of extreme affluence. It is the number one county in the nation for per capita income.

Marin has selected the Roam Secure Alert Network™ (RSAN) for emergency-based text communications. The region comprises an area that is covered under San Francisco Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funding, which enabled San Francisco and surrounding counties to use funding from the Department of Homeland Security to purchase RSAN. The system will be used to send routine and emergency text communication to more than 15,000 first responders and key government officials, and 1.7 million citizens in the San Francisco Bay Region.
