City of Philadelphia Mayor Nutter and County Chairmen from the five surrounding counties, of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Pa., and Gloucester, NJ, launched the nation’s most advanced emergency mass notification system. ReadyNotifyPa.org, powered by the patent-pending Roam Secure Alert Network™ (RSAN™). ReadyNotifyPA is a regional, interoperable alerting system that can alert more than 5 million citizens residing in the nation’s fifth largest metropolitan area in seconds via email, text messaging on cell phones and other delivery methods.

Residents and businesses can sign up to receive emergency alerts from any of the jurisdictions, including signing up on one site (where they live) and receive alerts from other jurisdictions (where they work or have children at school) without having to sign up for multiple systems. The patent-pending Roam Secure Emergency Information Exchange (RSIX) facilitates this regional interoperability for both public alerting systems, and internal RSAN systems used by the regions’ first responders, leadership and critical infrastructure providers.


Delaware County Vice Chairman Jack Whelan praised the system for already protecting lives during a campus shooting incident in March.

Roam Secure / Cooper Notification’s Mass Notification Marketing services helped prepare the region for a well coordinated and effective launch. The marketing services draw on years of experience deploying emergency text notification systems at many of the nation’s leading cities (Washington, DC, San Francisco, New Orleans, Orlando) and counties. The event was covered by local TV and media and has drawn thousands of citizens to sign up for the systems. The marketing initiative will continue throughout 2008 to maximize registration and awareness for ReadyNotifyPA.org.
